So, you took our quiz and found out that your trauma & threat response is Fight š”
(Didn't take the quiz? šš¼)
Looks like your trauma response is the fight response. š„This shows up when your sympathetic nervous systemĀ takes the lead, kicking into high gear to defend and protect you.
When stress, overwhelm, or triggers hit, youāre ready to fight your corner, stand your ground, and take a stand.
While this can be a powerful strength, it might also mean you:
Feel like you go from 0 to 100 in secondsĀ šŖļø
Experience bursts of rage or emotional outburstsĀ that catch you off guard
Find yourself snapping at your partner or kids (and feeling guilty about it later) š
Notice a tight chest, tension, or a simmering sense of anger
Hereās the thing: weāre not taught how to deal with anger healthily.
Society tells us to bottle it up, push it down, or ācalm down.ā But when anger and emotions stay trapped in your body, they can lead to:
Gut issues
Chronic pain and tension
Emotional burnout š
Not to mention the guilt and shame.
We start to call ourselves things like "bad mothers" & "impatient people".
We put up walls & we feel defensive.
This isn't a character flaw or a personality trait.
This is your body saying "I do not feel safe".

But hereās the good news: your fight response doesnāt have to control you. You can learn how to safely feel, express, and process anger, releasing the trauma or hurt or fear itās protecting and find peace on the other side.
Imagine feeling more:
āØ Calm and connected
āØ Safe and embodied

You're not alone
Many of our members are working on their own relationship with anger.
And I too have worked through my own journey with anger.
Anger (or the fight response) was not something I was familiar with in myself growing up or into my early twenties.
No -- I was a 'flight girl' (anxiety!) and a fawner (people pleasing) for a long time (freeze and fight came later!)
Actually, it wasn't until I had my daughter that I experienced a fight and freeze response - I was so overwhelmed, years of "stuff" bubbled to the surface, hormones changed - sleep went ENTIRELY out the window.
And I couldn't run. I couldn't people please my way to a baby that sleep and didn't have colic.
And so my nervous system shifted gears.
I noticed these awful feelings of pent up anger simmering that I shamefully felt I had to bottle.
I noticed I couldn't muster the willpower to get dressed after a shower.
I noticed I would get angry over little things like spilling my tea or getting my sleeve caught on the door handle.
I felt like a pressure cooker.
Fast forward 6 years and I learnt a lot from anger.
Anger is a teacher...
šš¼ Anger teaches us where our boundaries are
šš¼ Anger teaches us we have needs or emotions that are going ignored
šš¼ Anger teaches us we may have underlying feelings like hurt, fear or insecurity that need soothing
šš¼ Anger teaches us how to express
šš¼ Anger teaches us we are overwhelmed or feeling unsafe
